Now Accepting Applications for Host Sites with Decorah’s Public Parklet Program

 

Decorah, IA (March 19, 2025) – The City of Decorah is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Public Parklet Program. First launched in the fall of 2024, this initiative continues to enhance downtown spaces, providing vibrant, accessible outdoor seating areas that support local businesses and foster community engagement.

The Public Parklet Program is a collaborative effort involving the Downtown Decorah Betterment Association, the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Decorah’s Self-Supporting Municipal District. Together, these partners have worked to reimagine the use of public spaces, creating inviting environments that benefit residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

Businesses and organizations interested in participating are encouraged to submit an application. The program provides an opportunity to extend seating and activity areas into designated on-street parking spaces, enhancing the downtown experience while supporting local commerce.

Applications and detailed program guidelines are listed below. The deadline for submissions is April 18th.
