Community Forum on April 10, 2025 starting at 5:00pm

Community Forum: April 10, 2025, 5-6 pm

Decorah Mayor, Lorraine Borowski, and Jim Martin Schramm, chair of the Decorah Sustainability Commission, are convening a Community Forum from 5-6 pm on Thursday, April 10, in the City Council Chambers.

The first portion of the hour-long meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the Decorah community to meet the new President of Luther College, Brad Chamberlain.  President Chamberlain will share remarks about Luther’s relationship with the City of Decorah and the key initiatives his administration will pursue in the years ahead.

The second portion of the community forum will feature a presentation by Regional Planner Michelle Barness (Decorah Sustainability Commission, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission).  She has been engaged in discussions with local child care providers about the state of child care and needs and opportunities for the future.  Child care is a social, economic development, and workforce issue.  Human resource managers from many of Decorah’s largest employers have been invited to attend.

The meeting is open to the public.
